Nadia Shammas joins Rees to discuss the importance of ‘CORPUS: A Comic Anthology of Bodily Ailments’.

Nadia Shammas is a writer and comic editor living in Brooklyn, New York. After completing a degree in English Literature at Brooklyn College and completing two Marvel Editorial Internships, Nadia began working as a freelance editor, as well as writing for various comic press sites. Having been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 6 years old, Nadia is deeply passionate about healthcare and people’s access to it.

When she’s not obsessing about comics, Nadia enjoys creature comforts such as coffee, knitting, documentaries, and her comfort creature Lilith. She has recently taken to Kickstarter to fund her new project ‘Corpus’ an anthology about illness, both mental and physical, in any form as well as healthcare experiences. It is a full-color book with over 200 pages of content from some incredibly talented folks tackling a huge variety of personal, scary, hilarious, and poignant topics regarding illness. There are 40 stories ranging from peanut allergies to losing an eye, from depression to epilepsy, from what it is to care for a sick person to tackling the stigma of a chronic illness yourself.
